Exciting and Spine-Tingling Wayanad: The Ultimate Adventure Hotspot

We reached Calicut by train on the morning of February 3rd, 2024, and headed straight to the City Hotel for breakfast. This is a luxurious 4-5 star establishment with excellent amenities and spacious rooms, located in the heart of Calicut. The hotel boasts an elegant ambiance and ensuring a pleasant stay. Later, we set out to explore the nature in Wayanad.

We arrived in Wayanad around noon, excited to explore the cultural richness of the region. Our first destination was En Ooru, a Tribal Heritage Village situated in Pookode. This unique village is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the vibrant culture and traditions of the tribal communities in the area. As we entered the village, we were warmly greeted by local artisans showcasing their traditional crafts and arts. Visitors to the attraction are required to pay an entrance fee, with Indian citizens charged Rs.80 and foreign nationals charged Rs.150.

After enjoying a satisfying lunch at the picturesque Indeevara Retreat, which is part of the Saroma group and known for its luxurious cottages, we made our way to Pookode in Vythiri. Afterwards, we went to the tributary of the Kabini River to experience bamboo rafting with Muddy Woods. Following this exciting activity, we proceeded to visit the charming King Flora Organic Farm Resort located in Madakunnu, Kottathara. Surrounded by nature and offering a serene ambience, the resort provided a delightful stay that allowed us to unwind and connect with the beauty of our natural surroundings.

On the 4th of February, we embarked on an exciting adventure to explore the Cheengery Hills, located in Kaduvakuzhy near Ambalavayal, Wayanad. The day promised to be filled with breathtaking views, serene nature walks, and a challenging mountain climb. The climb was truly rewarding and spectacular. Upon descending to the base of the mountain, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of the clouds resembling delicate buds lay sprawled beneath us, creating a surreal and magical scene. It is recommended to explore this area during the early hours of the day, when the air is fresh, and the sunlight casts a golden hue on the surrounding landscape.

Nestled in the foothills of the Cheengery Hills, the luxurious Mount Xanadu Resort offers a serene and picturesque setting for a relaxing getaway. As we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by stunning views of the surrounding nature and an inviting atmosphere. The resort's charming restaurant served a delicious breakfast.

Later in the day, we made our way to Karapuzha Dam Adventure Park & Garden, where a wide array of thrilling activities awaited us. The park is open from 9 am to 6 pm, allowing visitors ample time to enjoy its offerings. One of the highlights was experiencing the longest Zip line in Kerala, which provided an exhilarating and scenic ride through the park's vibrant surroundings. Additionally, we tried out the massive and amazing Giant Swing, offering a heart-pounding and unforgettable experience as we soared through the air. The adventure park is currently expanding to include even more thrilling rides for visitors to enjoy. As of now, the entrance fee is Rs. 390 per person. The excitement continues as we indulged in a delightful lunch at Lake Rose Wayanad, located at The Secret Garden Resort near Karapuzha Dam. The resort offers a stunning water view, adding an extra touch of serenity to our dining experience.

During our return journey, we made a stop at the renowned JAIN TEMPLE situated in Sultan Bathery. This historic temple dates back to the 13th Century BC and was constructed during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire, reflecting its rich cultural heritage. Following this enlightening visit, we settled at the picturesque Crystal Kuruva Resort nestled near Kuruva Island in Wayanad. On the morning of February 3rd, we set off to explore the picturesque Kuruva Island, a tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of Wayanad. The island, located amidst the tributaries of the Kabini River, captivated us with its lush greenery and serene atmosphere. Following our time at Kuruva Island, we ventured to the Banasura Dam area, enthralled by  the sight of the towering dam and its surrounding natural beauty. This led us to Seagot Banasura Resort in Adhikaripadi, a stunning property perched on the banks of Banasura Dam area. From there, we were treated to breathtaking views and a sense of tranquillity that enveloped us. As our day's adventures drew to a close, around 2:30 pm, we reluctantly embarked on our return journey to Kozhikode (Calicut), filled with memories from our enriching experience in Wayanad.
